Open source
Open source
The Earth Care Network web app and its page editor are free software under the GNU Affero General Public License, version 3 or later. You can read the code, run it, change it and share your changes.
Source code
The code is published in the Earth-Care-Network/portal repository on GitHub. Until the public repository opens after our next release, that link won't work yet.
What is public
- The web app (
web/): the public pages, the directory, the enterprise and personal portals, and the design system. - The page editor (
studio/): the canvas behind marketing sites and designed pages.
The Django API that stores accounts, listings and payments is not public yet, so a copy of the web app runs on built-in sample data. No one's data is ever in the repository: every name in its examples is made up.
Run it on your computer
You need Node.js 20 or newer. No accounts or keys: with no settings, every screen shows sample data.
git clone https://github.com/Earth-Care-Network/portal.git
cd portal/studio && npm ci
cd ../web && npm ci && npm run dev
# then open http://localhost:3200
web/.env.example lists every setting the app reads, including how to point it at an API of your own.
Contribute
Open a pull request on the public repository and sign off each commit with git commit -s (the Developer Certificate of Origin). The repository is a published copy of our main codebase, so a maintainer applies your change there with your name and sign-off kept. It reaches the public repository in the next snapshot, and your pull request closes with a link to that commit. CONTRIBUTING.md explains the checks it runs.
Found a security problem? Please don't open a public issue: SECURITY.md says how to tell us privately.
Licence and name
The code is licensed under the AGPL-3.0-or-later. If you run a changed copy as a service for other people, the licence asks you to offer them its source too. The Earth Care Network name, the Jaguar and the logos are trademarks and are not covered by the code licence. Read the licensing overview for how the hosted service and the commercial parts fit together.
